Nyoshul Khenpo Rinpoche, Jamyang Dorje (1932-1999), was one of the most eminent contemporary Tibetan Buddhist masters: a Dzogchen master, an upholder of the non-sectarian Riméd Practice Lineage, and one of the principal teachers of Lama Surya Das.
Khenpo Rinpoche was a major lineage holder of the Longchen Nyinthig ("Heart Essence") Dzogchen tradition. Please also read his autobiography.
Khenpo was the author of several books, including Natural Great Perfection: Dzogchen Teachings and Vajra Songs with Surya Das (copyright 1995, Snow Lion Publications).
On his last visit to the United States in 1994, he gave teachings at the Harvard Divinity School. He lived in Bhutan, and passed away at the Nyingmapa retreat centre of Chateloube in the Dordogne, France, on 27 August 1999.
